Documentary - Looking into BBC Three documentaries

Looking into BBC Three documentaries.

BBC Three have been one of the main game changers for Documentaries for the younger generation for so many years now. They specifically have a target audience for roughly 16-34 year-olds. This means that they tackle hard topics such as drug abuse, mental health, homelessness and many more. The reason behind tackling these hard topics to discuss as not many people like talking about these problems.

Documentaries like Life Of A Campus Drug Dealer: Students On Edge, Love and Drugs on the Street: Girls Sleeping Rough, and Drugland. All of these documentaries show either the good and bad side from life around drugs, but the main thing that I want to bring up is that they follow an individuals story. This is the main aspect in all of their short online stories is that they follow an individuals path as they try and find a way out of the life they live. These sort of stories are known as 'single films'. They look into big subjects like Male Rape and new documentaries which include Abused by my Girlfriend and HIV Nightcrawler.

However, these are only the short documentaries on the BBC Three website, but there are feature-length documentaries out there. With the feature lengths, they would normally use a presenter and they would follow the presenter as they would uncover the story, instead of following the personal stories. The most common presenters that work well for the style they go for are Stacey Dooley and Professor Green, as these two are young and would appeal to the younger genertation which matches their target audience.
