Documentary - Looking for potential people to interview
Potential interviewees
Justyn Larcombe
Justin was interviewed back in 2014 by the BBC about his Gambling addiction. I found Justyn by just simply looking for people affected by Gambling in Kent and his story was the first I read. I found out that he sold his house, spent his wife's saving and used his works credit card to feed his addiction. He was also interviewed on Good Morning Britain (Video below).
I think Justyn would be a great person to interview as he already has spoken openly to the nation about his gambling addiction, so hopefully, he'd want to talk to us and specifically to the younger generation to warn them about the dangers of gambling. Also, he'd want to say how easy it is to lose everything through a simple click of the button. I could only find Justyn on Facebook so i had to message him on that.
Adding on to justyn, Sara managed to find his email so i then did email him to as he didnt reply to the facebook message.
Tracey Crouch
Tracey Crouch was voted into parliament in 2010 for the conservatives and also the minister of sports. Back in 2018 she, unfortunately, resigned as the minister of sport as she lost a battle against reducing how much money you can put on a bet. She wanted to reduce the amount from £100 down to £2. We decided to approach Tracey when Helen gave us the idea to try and contact her. We have then contacted her and she really seems up for getting the message across that gambling has become out of control in recent years. She also wants to get her story across about what happened in the last year. We are set to go The Atrium Portcullis on 25th April at 12:00 for an interview with Tracey. The only main problem that we have with this interview is that we could only secure Tracey for 20 minutes, which is quite a shame becasue we're now limited in what questions we can ask her.
Dr. Lazoros Gonidis
All credit for Sara for finding Dr. Lazaros Gonidis from the univesity of Kent. We knew that we wanted to interview and expert, so we all went out to find some people. We did find a good expert, however, he said he didn't have time for us. This is when Sara managed to find Lazaros, she soon got in contact with The University of Kent and managed to secure an interview with him on the 24th April, which is great becasue the day after we then go to London to interview Tracey.
