Casting

How will I cast my film?
The casting process for my film will be through the website Mandy. I've known about Mandy for a while now and have been reluctant on using it because sometimes actors can suddenly drop out, this is why in my previous project I've asked people I know. However, I've made it my aim to source actors from the website.

Forrest:

For Forrest, I knew I wanted someone that looked different from the original, but still pull off the same effect. So I looked through the script and watched the original and remembered that at this time of Forrest life her was playing a very high level of American Football, this made me think maybe he could be playing as a linebacker, which is someone who is of a shorter build but very muscular that can run fast.

As you can see in the photo he has would have more muscle as he would be training a lot for his team, so this is why I know I was going to look for someone of this build to play my Forrest.

Due to my running low on time and the applicants just didn't suit the tone I was going for I decided to ask an old friend of mine Ashley Tyler. Reasons why are because he suits the type of build I'm looking for and I can trust him as an actor as he's been in a lot of my previous productions.

Jenny:
For Jenny for Jenny, I'm looking for someone that you can see has been scarred from her past, however, I want her to be strong with delivering her lines to make her character seem inspirational with her hopes of one day leaving that pain behind by seeing the joy of her fans faces.

I wrote a casting call for Jenny on Mandy and got a few people eager to do it. However, when I emailed them they never got back to me apart from Lauren Tracey. We communicated through Mandy via email, but she did take a while to get back to me and she'd only responded once a day.

How We Kept in Contact

I finally decided to go for Lauren Tracey for two reasons. The first being she sent me a self-tapes of her lines and I was quite impressed on how she gave her lines; secondly, she was the only actress that got back to me and I was running out of time. Here is the self-tape she sent me.

Billy:
I knew that with billy I wasn't too worried about them being a really good actor because he's not in it for very long. So I thought that the original had him looking athletic so I wondered if he was like a hipster with a denim jacket and straight cut trousers with trainers. With this in mind, I started to look around halls of residence but unfortunately the student that I had in mind left and I couldn't afford the fund to pay. for his expenses. As production week was getting closer I decided to ask Aodhan to be Billy, I can trust that Aodhan will manage to add a bit of personality to the character even though we see him briefly.

Jenny's Flatmate:

With this character, I was just looking for any females that would just stand in and Emily Sawyer was supposed to be in my previous project, however, I cut her out from the re-writes of the script. She didn't have to do anything all she had to do was lay in the bed and look past the camera. Something as simple as this I didn't think id need to worry too much about who I cast.
