Directing Camera - Research

For what I want my version of the scene to look like I've looked at some videos on YouTube to see what types of camera shots and movements I could use so I can get the right emotion portrayed through the camera.

I first looked at how Robert Zemeckis shot the scene. Altogether, I noticed that Zemeckis only uses 10 shots. However, he uses a lot of movement so it looks like there are more shots. This is known as a moving master shot, which is when you can show two or more shots in one movement, but when cut together looks like more shots. I definitely want to use movement in my scene just because this is an important scene in the movie and if you track in towards the subject it tells the audience that they should be paying attention.

I watched this video and it went over the basic camera movements like a pan, dolly, zolly, track in, and tracking away from the subject. Whilst it was saying what movements there are he also spoke about how that would affect the audience. I found this really helpful in showing examples of the shots so all I need to do is potentially practice some of these shots in other workshops so I can see if they work with the scene I intend to do.
