TRANSITIONS BLOG POST: EVALUATION

Evaluation At the beginning of this unit, I was very excited to finally focus purely on the job role DoP/Cinematographer and to learn about how to get into the industry. However, due to certain events that no one saw coming this unit became a real pain as the side of production, which I love was lost. I enjoyed researching into my chosen role, but I felt like I lost an opportunity to really make something and to really test my abilities with a camera. On the other hand, without these circumstances, I probably would not have put as much time and thought into the explore and research side of this unit so for that, I am grateful as I feel I have really learnt new skills and ideas about my job role (which I will go into more detail). EXPLORE: The explore aspect to this unit I found really useful and interesting this is because I finally sat down and started to really get to understand my job role. I knew what my job role is, but I found out new jobs that I did not know at fi...

MOOD BOARDS: SHOT LIST: I sat down with Ethan (our director) over a teams call to produce this shot list for our production. COLOUR GRADING: Here is a short video on some colour grading I would like to produce for this production. As you can see from the shot in the dinner I know that lighting will be a lot better, but I wanted to give the shot an added warmth to show to the audience that they are safe and happy at this location with their mother. The lighting for this scene would be practical so what I decided to light the scene with would hopefully give off enough light so the subjects are well lit, but I want the lights to give off a red tint, however, I don't want the subject covered in red, which is why the scene will also use natural lighting from windows. The other shot is an outside shot and as you can see from this one is that I've gone for a more natural feeling to the shot by giving it a blue tint, but then also making the shot seem a...

TRANSITIONS BLOG POST: RESEARCH

Research: Treatment: I was sent the treatment from our producer Carla and it gave me a good insight as to what the show's style, which is a comedy-drama, which contains strong language and violence. Another main aspect that I took away from the treatment is that the show was set in the 90s and I also took away the locations which were:  Night club -  Riverside Apartment - with a walk-in wardrobe, king-size bed, and mirrors all around Suburban Estate - white picket fences, 5 bedroom house, kitchen-dining room Dark Office on top of the night club: Leather chair, CCTV screen (Big brother scenario) Council Estate tower block - smokey pokey rooms countryside private school (Sophia attends) 2x Two up-Two Down Victorian house Plus other locations which are still TBC All these locations are great and I know that with the right equipment I could get each location to have a specific tone through the placements of lights, however, for our production we will only be usi...
